Collection: Nitrogen-Fixers

Nitrogen-fixers are plants whose roots have a symbiotic relationship with a certain bacteria that convert or "fix" atmospheric nitrogen into solid nutrients available for absorption by plants.

Common nitrogen-fixing vegetation includes clovers, peas, and beans, but also includes various woody perennials such as eastern redbud, honeylocust and sea buckthorn.

We offer Sea Buckthorn and Siberian Pea Shrub in part due to their abilities to contribute a steady influx of added bioavailable nitrogen into woody perennial polycultures.
